Towards peace of mind

WTF Director Marieke Schouten joined presenter Alex de Vries and commentator Arend Jan Boekestijn around the table of the May 25^th edition of the programme Ochtendspits on national television. During the interview, Schouten took the opportunity to illustrate the work of the foundation by describing one project in the Northern Caucasus, which aims to meet the psychological needs of both children and their caregivers in Chechnya, Ingushetia and North Ossetia.

One of the more pertinent questions raised during the interview concerned the impact of the Dutch government cutbacks on the foundations projects. Schouten replied that while the funding for the project in the Northern Caucasus is largely covered, it is certainly a difficult time for fundraising. She continued by pointing out that the cuts are painful for all donors, at all levels of Dutch society, which of course includes the WTF. However, along side government support, contributions from corporations, foundations, funds and individuals are still of great importance to continuing the work of the foundation. Commentator Boekestijn agreed that a wide variety of sources of finance demonstrates a sound base for a charitable organisation. In summary, the broadcast was a great way to highlight the valuable work of the WTF.
