Towards peace of mind

During the 'Dutch Security Network' (network of 34 Dutch development work organisations) meeting last October 4th, Dr. Leslie Snider, senior technical advisor of War Trauma Foundation and one of the authors of the guide,
provided training on 'Psychological First Aid' (PFA). The aim of the training was to get different Dutch (development) organisations acquainted with PFA. Many of them regularly encounter crisis situations during their work. After a short introduction, the room was in no-time transformed into an area hit by an earthquake. Half of the group was hit by the earthquake, while the other half tried to apply PFA. Subsequently, the situation was analysed by Leslie and she presented some theory. De training ended with a couple of role plays about different crisis situations. All in all it was a very exciting and inspiring training, which was perceived as very valuable by the participants.
